So, we’re pretty much behind the game on featuring 23 year old Chad Bundick of South Carolina, a.k.a. Toro Y Moi. I mean he’s almost blogged about at the same extreme level as Phoenix, Beach House or Animal Collective. Well, not quite. That would be RIDICULOUS. But he’s hot, that’s for sure. Reason for this? Well, it’s that dreamy, lo-fi (or glo-fi), blissed-out electro that he creates that is just so lovely and fresh. All of this is familiar from the likes of Memory Tapes (who Oh, Inverted World are in fact going to pay a visit tonight at The Social), Washed Out, Neon Indian etc. and sometime soon someone’s going to have to come up with a unanimous word for this genre. I’ve seen many, but I reckon chillwave is my ultimate fav.
Anyways, Toro Y Moi is pretty brilliant and is releasing his debut album Causers of This on February 23rd through Carpark Records.
