So yeah, he’s had a bunch of 5-star reviews calling him “utterly remarkable” (UNCUT), “fresh, vital, uncluttered and brilliant” (THE SUN), and had the likes of Beth Orten and Alan McGee shouting his praises, but Emit Bloch really is the real deal. I mean the guy grew up on a ranch in Utah and recorded his first album on a $6 dictaphone that has now surfaced through One Little Indian (who release Bjork amongst others!)… His songs give you that great feeling of hearing Woody Guthrie, Dylan or Hank Williams on a sunny day when you’re headed out on a drive in your piece of junk car with only a cassette player and no real idea where your going to go. Just drifting along…

Well, thankfully Emit is drifting onto the Oh! Inverted World stage at the Old Queens Head tonight (Thurs 17th June) along with the excellent Left With Pictures and Look, Stranger! Yep, it’s going to be fine evening, come join us and drop in for a beer or two over some great music. Doors around 7:30pm.
