– JANUARY 19TH AT THE OLD QUEENS HEAD // OH! INVERTED WORLD’S 4TH BEEDAY // WHALES IN CUBICLES + WILDE + SAMUEL DESCHAMPS–

Whodda thought we’d make it to a whole four years old! Probably not us who started Oh! Inverted World when drinking with the thought process that this would allow us to have an amazing party with our friends every month with the artists that we love. And probably not theOld Queens Head either who took the chance on us four years ago despite a complete lack of experience and any organisational prowess. O!IW lot more than just a pub party and we’ve had some ridiculous and brilliant nights these past four years, as well as hosting over 130 different artists, some of whom (yeah, we’re talking about you Josh Weller, Saumuel Deschamps, La Shark & Goldheart Assembly) have played for us multiple times! And we even created a *vaguely successful indie label.

So come to our birthday party next week as…

a) it’s still bloody FREE and
b) there are three amazing artists on the bill in the shape of Whales in Cubicles, Wilde & Samuel Deschamps.
c) we might reinstate FREE CAKE

So back in August 2011 a young lady called Lianne La Havas headlined O!IW and wowed everyone in the room with her properly amazing performance. Marques Toliver and Willy Mason also played with Lianne on a couple of tracks and the packed out room fell in love.

Since August Lianne has exploded (not literally, obvs) and been topped by every poll known to man including polls not even about artists that are gonna be big in 2012 – she’s just that damn hot.

In Feb she’s releasing a new EP called ‘Forget’ and here’s a super cool remix from Two Inch Punch. Enjoy!

Analogue Rebellion

Yep, this track’s called “Father Abraham”, it’s a fine tune and we can only hope Daniel jumps on a flight over soon so we can pin him down for an O!IW show.

The Serenades are Swedish which automatically means they know more about how to write amazing pop songs than your average human. They are also a duo who feature the lead singer from another O!IW favourite Shout Out Louds. They have their first EP out at the end of the month and I reckon they’re just lovely.

Citizens are a new band that feature members of Official Secrets Act who previously played O!IW a couple of years back. Now signed to Kitsune, ‘True Romance’ below is a super catchy bit of electro pop. Excellent retro video too! Free track on the website.

Chairlift have also recently returned with this pretty tasty track ‘Sidewalk Safari’. Caroline Polachek’s voice sounding more dynamic, bright and poppy than ever. We like. A lot.

Yadi is not like other pop musicians. Poised, petite and powerful, Yadi knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her music, creating forward-thinking, instantly catchy documents of her life experiences so far. At just 23, she is a beautiful bundle of contradictions, the product of a genetic cocktail that mixes a North African cultural penchant on her father’s side with Nordic and classical heritage from her mother’s side. For Yadi – born in South London – her music is an aural kaleidoscope of influences, with propulsive, almost instinctive tribal drums mixed with meticulous wordplay, all sung with a passion that sets her apart from the crowd. She is currently recording her debut album, which is set for release early 2012.

Having played the O!IW stage more than any other artist ever, Mr Deschamps is back to entertain us in his very unique and brilliant way. We’re gonna have to make some kinda plaque to commemorate his exceptional service to the O!IW cause soon, tis only fair.

– Foxes –

Sadly last month Foxes was ill with a throat infection and had to cancel. We were gutted as Foxes is one of favourite new artists at the moment and is simply amazing. Thankfully she’s fit us in this month and we can’t wait!
