AUGUST 11TH – SHE KEEPS BEES + BABE SHADOW + THE DUFFLEFOLKS – THE OLD QUEENS HEAD
We’ve got two of our most exciting line-ups so far coming up this August! It starts at The Old Queens Head on the 11th August where we’re delighted to introduce not only the fabulous headliners from Brooklyn, She Keeps Bees, but also two of the best new bands we’ve heard for ages in Babe Shadow and The Dufflefolks. See below for the all the info kids…
Thankfully the Old Queens Head have just upgraded their soundproofing as Brooklyn’s She Keeps Bees like to play loud, very loud. The excellent 2-piece from Brooklyn have been picking up plaudits all over the shop (including NME Album Of The Week) and we’re chuffed to bits to be hosting them for the night. This should be a damn special show in the intimate surroundings of the Old Queens Head.
The Guardian suggests you file them next to Black Keys, White Stripes, The Kills and The Carpenters in their recent “Guardian Band Of The Day” feature and we agree. Singer Jessica Larrabee has been compared to PJ Harvey and Cat Power with her powerful, dominating vocals and this is going to be very loud, and very, very good.
We’re also delighted to have Babe Shadow on the bill, their songs have been bringing sunshine to our busy, busy lives since we first caught wind of them a couple of months back. Simply put, go to their myspace and have a listen, if you don’t feel a warm, fuzzy feeling inside and a contented smile breaking on your face then you clearly have no soul or are probably dead. If this does occur then seek immediate medical attention.
And we’re also equally delighted to put on the fantastic The Dufflefolks as our openers for the night. They sent us some tracks a little while back and we were instantly sold on their wonderful melodies and gorgeous songs. We’re really looking forward to this night, some great, great new music is on the cards for all those who can make it.
And that date for your diary again…
